100,000 new generation DAF CF and XF trucks
DAF Trucks has marked a historic milestone in Eindhoven: the production of the 100,000th truck of the new generation of CF and XF models. Never since its founding has the company had a truck series reach this volume in such a short period of time. The 100,000th vehicle, a DAF XF 450 4×2 FT Super Space Cab, was delivered with all the pomp and circumstance to the Gheys group in Mol, Belgium.
The first trucks of the current generation CF and XF entered production in July 2017. Since then, DAF Trucks has manufactured no less than 100,000 trucks at its production facilities in Eindhoven, Belgium and Leyland, UK.
“The fact that we have reached this benchmark so quickly is testament to the quality and efficiency of the latest generation of trucks,” said Harry Wolters, President of DAF Trucks. “Our customers have nothing but praise for the reliability, fuel efficiency and low operating costs of these trucks, not to mention the driver comfort, which is unsurpassed in the industry. It is no wonder that DAF is the European leader in trucks.”
The 100,000th truck was delivered to the Belgian group Gheys, which specializes in road transport of bulk and containerized goods. “We have a long-standing collaboration with DAF Trucks,” said the company’s co-owner, Luc Gheys. “The first truck my father used in the mid-60s was a DAF coach converted into a freight truck. Following in my father’s footsteps, we started including DAF trucks in the company’s fleet in 2015. Our experience, both with these trucks and with the DAF dealer Lavrijsen, has always been excellent, which is why we currently have around 80 DAF trucks in the fleet and plan to add another 25 this year.”
