The electric DAF CF 6x2 chassis truck is now available

Ideal for household waste collection

DAF Trucks presents the new CF Electric with a chassis in the 6×2 configuration. The first vehicles will be field tested as refuse trucks by the Dutch sanitation companies HVC and ROVA. In early 2020, the city of Rotterdam and Cure will use the fully electric 6×2 version, equipped with a loading crane. All these vehicles are equipped with the VDL E-Power driveline, and the electric superstructure is supplied by VDL Translift.

Since the end of 2018, the first DAF CF Electric trucks have been used as 4x2 tractor units for various Dutch hauliers, including Peter Appel, Simon Loos and Tinie Manders, as well as for the Jumbo supermarket chain. These trucks are part of an extensive field test, being used to transport goods to and from destinations such as supermarkets and distribution centers. The German logistics company Rhenus currently operates two CF Electric trucks for regional container transport. Due to its efficiency and practical applicability, the DAF CF Electric won the prestigious “Green Truck Award” in Germany this year.

Increased maneuverability

Because the truck has both low emissions and low noise levels during operation, the CF Electric is the ideal solution not only for urban distribution but also for household waste collection. For this purpose, DAF has designed a 3-axle chassis with a steering axle for increased maneuverability and a higher load capacity. The total weight of the CF Electric 6×2 version is 28 tonnes.

Regular routes

The VDL E-power drive train develops 210 kW and 2000 Nm of torque, just like the CF Electric tractor unit. The drive train is powered by a battery pack with a gross energy of 170 kWh, sufficient to ensure the vehicle's autonomy on typical household waste collection routes. Normally, refuse trucks return to base for emptying approximately every few hours. The electric trucks will thus be able to recharge themselves, reaching 80% of their battery capacity in just 30 minutes.

Elevators and loading cranes

HVC operates in the North Holland, Rijnmond and Flevoland regions, and ROVA in the central-eastern part of the Netherlands. Both companies use side-loading trucks. The city of Rotterdam and Cure in the Eindhoven area will use the CF Electric version equipped with a loading crane to collect waste from underground containers.
