DAF delivers five CF Electric trucks to Amazon UK

DAF delivers five CF Electric tractors to Amazon UK. The fully electric vehicles with a GCW of 37 tonnes join Amazon’s factory delivery fleet, transporting goods with zero tailpipe emissions. The five DAF CF Electric trucks are the first electric factory delivery trucks that Amazon owns in Europe.

The vehicles mark a major milestone in the electrification of Amazon’s fleet, as part of Shipment Zero – Amazon’s goal to deliver 50% of its shipments with net zero carbon emissions by 2030. The five vehicles replace diesel trucks, resulting in up to 1 million miles driven on renewable electricity, preventing the emission of approximately 170 tons of CO2.

“We are delighted to bring the DAF CF Electric to the Amazon fleet and support their commitment to climate action,” said DAF Trucks Fleet Sales Director Eelco van Veen. “The DAF CF Electric represents an important step in the industry when it comes to zero-emission distribution to factories. It was developed in response to the increasing demand for better air quality and reduced CO2 emissions in the transport sector. Thanks to intelligent planning and fast charging, the CF Electric can cover up to 500 kilometres per day. This figure really pleases operators.”

DAF CF Electric: tractor and chassis
The DAF CF Electric is available as a 4×2 tractor (GCW: 37 tonnes) and as a 6×2 chassis cab (GVW: 28 tonnes) with steered lead axle for maximum manoeuvrability. The 210 kW electric motor (240 kW maximum power) is powered by a 350 kWh battery (315 kWh effective). A full charge takes only around 75 minutes using a charging station with a capacity of 250 kW.
