Who is the best truck driver in Romania? And who is the best in Europe and even beyond? That's what we will try to find out over the next few months, during the DAF Driver Challenge 2019 competition, held in 28 countries. The international final will take place in September of this year and will spectacularly reveal who deserves to be crowned "International DAF Driver Champion 2019".

An excellent driver knows how to optimally exploit the performance of the truck he drives. He knows how to get the most out of every drop of fuel. How to transport goods safely and deliver on time, especially during peak hours. And how to keep the truck in the best technical condition. At the same time, a good driver knows the legislation like the back of his hand, calmly manages all aspects of transport safety and easily adapts to weather conditions and different types of trucks. In other words: an excellent truck driver is a true master.

The distinctive element 
The DAF Driver Challenge consists of three stages. First, the driver must register for the competition by submitting a presentation describing themselves and explaining why they are a worthy candidate for the title. Drivers can apply personally, or they can be nominated by employers, colleagues or even their DAF dealer on drivers.daf.com. As with any master, dedication, talent and passion are the distinguishing elements.

International final
Only the best of the best will be invited to participate in the national competition, organized in Romania and which will take place in June in loc. Gilau, Cluj County. The national champion from each country will go on to participate in the International Final, an event held between September 28 and 29, 2019, at the Goodyear Proving Ground in Luxembourg. Here, each participant will be able to proudly represent their country, honoring the Romanian driving community.

A contest for all truck drivers
Because we are looking for the best driver in Romania, the DAF Driver Challenge competition is of course open to all drivers, regardless of the make and model of the truck driven.
