For the new generation of AEBS, DAF Trucks uses a dual radar incorporating 16 antennas, compared to 7 in the previous generation, ensuring detection at both short and long distances. The system is equipped with the best-performing sensor in its class, with the longest range in the industry, up to 250 m, compared to 200 m in the previous generation, which allows for the early identification of potentially dangerous situations. And the short-range radar has an unrivalled visibility angle of 120˚ compared to 50˚ in the previous generation, thus allowing the driver to foresee as early as possible situations in which other vehicles are blocking his path, even in difficult weather conditions or with low visibility, such as fog or bright sunshine.

Emergency braking

AEBS works in conjunction with the vehicle's braking and stability systems. When a collision is imminent, the system issues audible and visual warnings and transmits a tactile brake impulse, and if the driver does not react, the truck automatically initiates emergency braking to avoid or mitigate the impact of the collision. 

Up to 80 kilometers per hour

The AEBS-3 system can provide autonomous emergency braking from a speed of up to 80 km/h in order to avoid a collision with stationary and moving vehicles. As a result, the system automatically reduces the speed of impact with moving or stationary objects in front of the vehicle as much as possible, provided that the driver does not react to a dangerous situation.
